Running From the Gypsies @ r1
I wrote this piano piece back in 2013 or so. It's pretty neat, I think. I didn't record it at the time because it was kind of hard and I think I was busy with other things or something, so I never got around to "perfecting" it and getting it down on tape for posterity. So I figured now was a good time since my piano chops are exceedingly okay-ish at the moment with with some of the other things I've recorded recently.
However, I think the real reason I didn't get around to recording it a decade ago was because it's kinda hard and I'm kinda lazy and can't really play it super well. Which is what happened this week. This recording is pretty garbage and frankly it kind of pissed me off that I couldn't play it better. Between memory lapses, poor key action (always blame the tools!), sloppy arpeggios, sloppy left-hand jumps, and just general poor execution I couldn't get a better take in the approximate ~30 minutes I spent on this. I'm confident the amount of recording time was not the problem; I really need to expend like a dozen more hours practicing things but I ain't gonna do that.
Alas.
