Alice in Chains - Man in the Box - Solo

This article is part 44 of 52 in the 2022 music project series.

My friends and I had a garage band in the late 90s. We played Man in the Box and Metallica's Enter Sandman at the end-of-year assembly in 9th grade. It was possibly the most cliche late 90s setlist of all time.1 It was a good time. I wore a white wig (?) and our bass player dyed his hair green. Truly the halcyon days of our youth.

I used to love this song and then we practiced it like 200 times and then I was pretty much over it. But time is a flat circle and here I am again, unable to escape the allure. You could say I am that man. That man in the box.

Or whatever.
