<p>
    <em>Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart</em> is a song with a long title
    off <em>Stone Temple Pilots'</em> 1996 album with an equally long title
    <em><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiny_Music..._Songs_from_the_Vatican_Gift_Shop">Tiny
    Music&#x2026; Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop</a></em>. I don't know
    what the song title means and I don't know what the album title means.
    But it's a pretty great solo.
</p>
<p>
    In my copious collection of songbooks, I have two different notations
    of this song, one from the actual album's songbook, which is generally
    pretty poor, and one from their greatest hits album
    <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thank_You_(Stone_Temple_Pilots_album)">Thank You</a>.
    I forgot I owned the <em>Thank You</em> book, so I was trying to piece together
    the inaccurate parts of the transcription from live performances and
    other places online, that had equally inaccurate transcriptions.

<p>
    However, I was in too deep before I re-discovered my possession of the
    <em>Thank You</em> book, and I ended up just kind of making up some parts
    of the solo on my own. Specifically, the legato part near the end. The
    <em>Thank You</em> transcription was accurate, but just kinda sloppy
    and hard to replicate. The <em>Tiny Music&#x2026;</em> transcription was
    missing slurs, slides, articulations and wasn't really accurate.
    My version combined the two, although the notes I played are probably most
    similar to the <em>Tiny Music&#x2026;</em> version. At the end of the
    day it's an F&#x266f;m pentatonic legato run that's played pretty fast.
    Not a whole lot of options to cram into three beats, so everything will
    sound pretty similar.

<h2>Recording</h2>
<p>
    The bass part I recorded is not accurate, but I think it sounds pretty cool
    regardless.
