Extreme - Suzi (Wants Her All Day What?) - Solo

This article is part 18 of 52 in the 2022 music project series.

This song off of Extreme's most successful album Pornograffiti is full of cool riffs and strange lyrics. I'm not completely sure, but it might be about a hooker giving a blowjob. It's certainly very suggestive. Also, the solo is pretty good; it's kind of got a neo-classical vibe.

That album put Extreme on the map with the huge radio hit More Than Words, which still gets airplay today in grocery stores. Unfortunately for Extreme, that song gave them the reputation as a pretty boy acoustic ballad band, when really they were more like a more talented Guns N' Roses. As such, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt kind of got lost in the post-glam-metal hard rock scene, even though he's widely respected and incredibly talented; he just missed out on the fame and gratuitous fortune.

Anyway, here's me butchering one of his solos.

Recording

I'm not sure this was the best angle, since the video seems to be 50% desk. Alas. Enjoy the synthesized choir at the end.
