Dream Theater - Innocence Faded - Outro/Solo

This article is part 51 of 52 in the 2022 music project series.

The last installment for the year is a cover of probably my favorite solo: Innocence Faded from Dream Theater's Awake. Besides Them Bones, this is probably the only solo that I already knew before I decided to covered it. Although, in this case, I had to do a lot more practicing to be able to play this in a non-embarrassing fashion. And I mostly succeeded.

Since I like to double-track pretty much everything, there were a lot of tracks for this excerpt. Two rhythm guitars (doubled L+R), two lead guitars, two acoustic guitars (doubled L+R), two clean guitars (doubled L+R), one fake strings keyboard track, one fake brass keyboard track (it sounds better than it sounds…), bass and drums. I opted not to attempt the vocal line which screams "Whoa" for eight bars. All in all, it took a little more than the normal 4-6 hours I allot for these things, but I thought ending the year with a bang(er)1 would be fun.
