Hand-drawn Video Game Maps
These are a collection of hand-drawn maps I made of various video games in middle school/high school. And some from my speedrunning days while figuring out the routing for Crystalis.
Final Fantasy (8)
ca. 1998
The game came with a fold-out map of the first half of the game, so I didn't need a map for the early dungeons or the overworld (although the overworld is not complicated).
Metroid (2)
ca. 1998
Very clever names for the different areas. Not pictured is my label for Shredded Wheat Land.
“Cool music land” is, of course, Kraid's Hideout. “Evil land” is Ridley's Hideout.
Dragon Warrior IV (2)
ca. 1999
Phantasy Star II (1)
ca. 2000
Crystalis (12)
ca. 2005
I believe I made these while doing routing for a speedrun. Dragondarch discovered the “shop glitch” and that screwed up my route and I didn't feel like competing with him anymore.
The yellow highlighting is the fastest way through each area. Evil Sprit Island is skipped in the speedrun due to Ghetto Flight, I probably mapped it out before I discovered that glitch. I believe I read about it on a GameFAQs walkthrough.
